Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the gym?

Click here to schedule a free consultation and we’ll talk to you about your goals, explain our programs, and figure out the best path to getting started working together. If you are new to functional training, the first step is Elements. If you’ve got experience and want to try out a class first, we can accommodate that as well.

What is “Elements”?

Group Elements is a series of eight classes that meet twice per week. These classes are an hour long and focus on hands on movement instruction during the first part of the class, followed by a “Workout of the Day”, and finishing with a brief chat about improving lifestyle habits to help you get better results.

Why do I need to take “Elements”?

Many of the movements we perform in CrossFit are going to be new to you. In Elements, you get to become familiar with and practice these new skills, while our coaches get the opportunity to assess your strengths and weaknesses. Teaching in a small, focused group setting is the most effective way to do this. We know you are excited to get started, but you need to be patient – the quickest way to get burnt out or injured is by going full bore on these workouts instead of first learning the technique, practicing to develop consistency, then finally ramping up intensity.

Do I have to finish Elements before I can take Workout of the Day (WOD) Classes?

You can come to unlimited WOD classes after your 4th Elements class. You must complete all your Elements Classes within one month.

Do I have to take Elements if I’ve already been training at a CrossFit affiliate or functional training gym?

If you’ve been training regularly for at least 3 months, probably not. Email us at info@cfsilverspring.com to schedule a time to come in, chat, and try out a WOD.

How much do memberships cost?

Why does this cost more than my current gym?

Coaching and Results. We provide top notch, personalized instruction in a small group setting for a fraction of the cost of personal training. If your workout routine was getting the results you wanted, chances are you wouldn't be stepping through our doors in the first place. It’s time to try something new and challenging, stop making excuses, and start making progress towards your goals. After one month, your will start to feel like a new person. Give it a few more months and your friends will want to know your secret. Consider it an investment in the person you want to become. We guarantee the efficacy of our program, if you attend all 8 Elements classes and give your best effort and still aren't satisfied, we'll refund your money. Seriously. Give us a shot - what do you have to lose?

If I become a member, can I show up whenever I want?

No, our program is based around set class times and workouts. You can show up to any WOD class you’d like, just be on time. Classes start promptly!

We have dedicated spaces directly in front of the gym as well as the first four spots in the lot adjacent to the building (on the right if you are looking at the gym from the street). All street parking on Garfield Avenue that you can find is public and fair game.

What if I there is something I can’t do in today’s WOD?

That’s where our coaching skills come into play. Our workouts are “infinitely scalable” meaning we can modify our workouts to accommodate injuries, limitations, or movements you haven’t mastered yet.
