Marcos Hernandez is a coach at Crossfit Silver Spring. Originally from Montgomery County, MD, Marcos began playing soccer at a very early age. Katie Weddle 2

Katie Weddle

Level 1 Certified CrossFit Instructor
Katie graduated from Emory University, where she rowed for all 4 years on the crew team. Before college, Katie played both softball and field hockey competitively. After college, she dabbled in various types of exercise, but struggled to find anything that was both fun and effective. She realized she missed the community and friendly competition that comes with being part of a team. Katie first found CrossFit in January of 2011, where she rediscovered the community and competition she had been looking for, and was immediately hooked. What Katie loves most about CrossFit is that it is ever evolving, never boring, and endlessly scalable. She is passionate about helping others foster a love of health and fitness. When she is not at CFSS, Katie is a preschool special education teacher in Montgomery County.

Lukas Hernandez 2

Lukas Hernandez

Level 1 Certified CrossFit Instructor
USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach

The youngest of three brothers, Lukas grew up in an athletics driven, competitive household. In high school, he played soccer for the Potomac Academy which drove him to search for something challenging as he was transitioning away from the world of soccer.
Lukas began his CrossFit and Weightlifting journey at Crossfit Silver Spring in 2012. In 2013, he left to continue his education in Atlanta. During his time there he furthered his love for the sport of Weightlifting after being fortunate enough to meet close friend, mentor and Masters Weightlifting World Champion, Juan Sepulveda, and legendary USA Senior International Coach John Coffee of Coffee’s Gym in Marietta, Georgia. After two years away, he came back to Maryland to share his knowledge and passion for lifting heavy weights with anyone with a desire to learn and improve.
Lukas sees fun as a key part of the learning process, no matter the pursuit; he also has a strong belief in the abilities of his athletes.
