Our Mission

Crossfit Silver Spring is a Crossfit gym whose goal is to provide you with the instruction and coaching that will make you a healthier, fitter, and more well-rounded athlete, prepared for rigors and challenges of life, and more! Come for the challenging workouts, stay for the great community. We are much more of a family than a gym; we recognize that personal interaction and a supportive atmosphere are the keys to long-term success and well-being, not workout fads and quick fix gimmicks. Let us be your primary resource as you pursue better nutrition, fitness, and well-being, to make your experience with us the best you’ve ever had, bar none.

How to Join

We require all prospective new clients to schedule a free one-on-one introductory session through our website. We use the intro session to discuss your current fitness level, routine, and goals, and familiarize you with our gym and program. You can then experience a workout and we will answer any questions you may have.

After completing your intro, and prior to starting general workout of the day (WOD) classes, all athletes must take CrossFit Elements, an 8-class beginner program that meets twice a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the gym?

Call or email us to schedule an intro session and we’ll explain our program, talk to you about your goals, and schedule a trial workout.

If you are new to CrossFit, sign up for Group Elements. If you want to try out a class first, give us a call to come in.

What is “Elements”?

Group Elements is a series of eight classes that meet twice per week. These classes are an hour long and focus on movement instruction during the first part of the class, and a “Workout of the Day” at the second half.

Why do I need to take “Elements”?

Many of the movements we perform in CrossFit are going to be new to you. In Elements, you get to become familiar with and practice these new skills, while our coaches get the opportunity to assess your strengths and weaknesses. Teaching in a small, focused group setting is the most effective way to do this. We know you are excited to get started, but you need to be patient – the quickest way to get burnt out or injured is by going full bore on these workouts instead of first learning the technique, practicing to develop consistency, then ramping up intensity.

Do I have to finish Elements before I can take Workout of the Day (WOD) Classes?

You can come to unlimited WOD classes after your 4th Elements class. You must complete all your Elements Classes within one month.

Do I have to take Elements if I’ve already been doing CrossFit on my own or at another gym?

No, email us at cfsilverspring@gmail.com to schedule a Test Out.

How much does it cost?

Click on the offerings tab and scroll to the bottom of the page

Why does this cost so much?

If your workout routine was getting the results you wanted, chances are you wouldn’t be stepping through our doors in the first place. It’s time to break up the monotony and stop making excuses about why you can’t do this or that, and start making progress. After one month, your will start to feel like a new person. By month number two, your friends will want to know your secret. We guarantee the efficacy of our program, if you attend all 8 Elements classes and aren’t satisfied, we’ll refund your money. Seriously. Give us a shot; what do you have to lose?

Where are you located?

2700 Garfield Ave, Silver Spring, MD

What are your hours?

Our class schedule varies by day of the week. Please see our posted schedule (on the right of this page) or call for specific class times.

Do I have to register online for a WOD class?

No, the only time anybody ever needs to register online for a specific class is the initial Elements Signup and any seminars or events. If you want to come to a WOD, just show up.

If I become a member, can I show up whenever I want?

No, our program is based around set class times and workouts. You can show up to any WOD class you’d like, just be on time. Classes start promptly.

Where should I park?

We have eight dedicated spaces, four marked spots on the left side of the building, and four directly in front of the gym. Any street parking on Garfield Avenue that you can find is fair game.

What if I there’s something I can’t do in today’s WOD?

That’s where our coaching skills come into play. CrossFit is “infinitely scalable” meaning we can modify our workouts to accommodate injuries or movements you haven’t mastered yet.

What do I eat?

Get started here.

How can I keep track of my WODs and all these lifts we do?

Use this.

I’m going to be out of town for a week, what should I do?

Try one of these.

I’m visiting from out of town, can I drop in for a class?

Sure! Email us (info@cfsilvespring.com) and we’ll find a time for you to come in and train.

Is public transportation available nearby?

Yes. The Ride On Route 2 Bus has a stop just a couple blocks away at the Ride On Operations Center.

Do you have showers?

No.
